# Units - Overview
The **Units** feature provides a centralized list of every unit in your account. From a single unit record you can view registered users, manage files, track requests, and send messages to occupants.
## Feature Overview
Units acts as the master directory for all residential units in your account. Each unit record consolidates the people, documents, requests, and communications tied to that specific address, making it the primary reference point for property management activities.
## Key Concepts
- **Unit**: An individual residence within your condominium, identified by a unit number and (optionally) a building.
- **Building**: A grouping used to organize units when the property contains more than one structure. The units list can be filtered by building.
- **Registered Users**: Owners, tenants, or other users associated with a unit.
- **Requests**: Service or maintenance tickets automatically attached to a unit when submitted by one of its users via the requests page.
- **Unit Messages**: Direct communications sent from management to one or more users of a specific unit.
- **Unit Files**: Documents stored against the unit record (leases, inspection reports, etc.).
## Prerequisites
- Management-level access to the Units area.
- At least one building configured if you intend to filter or assign units by building.
## Navigating the Units List
1. Navigate to the **Administration > Units** section.
2. If you have multiple buildings, use the building filter to narrow the list.
3. Click any **unit number** to open that unit's detail view.
The unit detail view contains:
- A list of users registered under the unit
- Files associated with the unit
- Requests submitted by users of the Unit
- Messages sent to the Unit
- Forms for the Unit
## Common Use Cases
- Looking up which tenants or owners live in a specific unit.
- Storing unit-specific documents such as lease agreements.
- Reviewing the request history for a single unit.
- Sending a notice to every user registered under a unit.
## Additional Notes
- Requests cannot be added manually from the unit screen — they appear automatically when users submit them through the requests page.
- Message recipients receive an email notification when a new message is created.
