The **Unit Messages** feature is your personal inbox for messages sent to your unit by a property **Manager** or your **Board**. Unit Messages are private — they are addressed to your unit rather than broadcast to the whole community — and you can reply to them directly from the message page. For community-wide announcements, see [[News Announcements Overview]]. --- ## Feature Overview The Unit Messages page lists every message that has been sent to your unit. From this page you can: - View the full list of messages addressed to your unit. - Open any message to read its contents. - Read all comments associated with a message. - Reply to a message by adding a comment. - Receive email notifications when new messages or replies arrive. --- ## Key Concepts | Term | Definition | |------|------------| | **Unit Message** | A private message sent to your unit by a Manager or Board member. | | **Subject Line** | The title of a Unit Message, shown on the list. Click it to open the full message. | | **Comment / Reply** | A response added to a message. You and the sender can post comments back and forth on the same message thread. | | **Email Notification** | An email sent to you when a new Unit Message arrives. The notification includes a button that returns you to the message. | --- ## Prerequisites - An active resident, owner, or tenant account associated with a unit. For account setup, see [[Users and Residents Overview]]. - A valid email address on your profile to receive notifications. --- ## Viewing a Unit Message 1. Open the **Unit Messages** page from the main navigation. 2. The page lists every message sent to your unit. 3. Click the **subject line** of a message to open it. 4. The full message contents and all existing comments are displayed. --- ## Email Notifications When a new Unit Message is sent to you, the system sends an email notification: 1. Open the email notification in your inbox. 2. Click the button in the email. 3. You are taken back to the **Unit Messages** page where you can read the entire message along with all comments. --- ## Available Actions - [[Reply to a Unit Messages]] — Add a comment to a Unit Message thread. --- ## Common Use Cases - **Reminder from the Manager** — A late fee notice, parking violation, or unit-specific maintenance reminder. - **Board follow-up** — A response to a question or request you raised with the board. - **Documentation request** — A manager asking you to provide insurance proof, a signed form, or other unit-specific paperwork. - **Ongoing conversation** — Use the comment thread to keep the full back-and-forth in one place rather than scattered emails. --- ## Additional Notes - Unit Messages are **private to your unit** — other residents do not see them. - All replies stay attached to the original message as comments, preserving the full conversation history. - For broadcast communication that goes to many users at once, see [[News Announcements Overview]].
