This guide explains how to **generate a Task Report** filtered by status, category, and completion date range — and optionally include all task comments.
For a feature overview, see [[Tasks Overview]]
---
## What This Does
Task Reports let you summarize task activity over a chosen time range. Reports can include the comments associated with each task, making them useful for board meetings, audits, vendor reviews, and historical record-keeping.
---
## Prerequisites
- You must be part of a [[User Groups Overview|User Group]] that has access to manage Tasks
- At least one task exists on the account (see [[Creating Tasks]]).
---
## Steps to Generate a Task Report
1. Open the **Tasks** page.
2. Click the **Create Report** button.
3. On the Task Report page, set the filters:
- **Status** of the task (for example, Open or Completed).
- **Category** — select a specific [Task Category](Tasks%20Overview.md#key-concepts), or leave blank for all categories.
- **Date range** — specify the dates for when tasks were completed.
4. (Optional) Choose to **include all the comments** associated with each task.
5. Click **Generate Report**.
The report is generated based on your selected filters.

## Common Reporting Use Cases
- **Monthly board report** — Filter by **Completed** status, set last month's date range, and include comments to show what work was done.
- **Maintenance audit** — Filter by the **Maintenance** category over the past quarter, with comments included, to review vendor activity.
- **Time analysis** — Run a Completed report over a date range to see how long tasks in each category actually took, supporting better future planning. Time data comes from comments — see [[Adding Comments and Logging Time on Tasks]].
- **Open work summary** — Filter by **Open** status to see what's still outstanding.
