This guide explains how to edit an existing `Survey`. Editing allows you to update the title, due date, result visibility, access controls, questions, and attached files. For a general overview of the feature, see [[Surveys Overview]]. --- ## Prerequisites - You must belong to a **User Group** that has permission to manage `Surveys`. - The survey must have **no submissions yet**. Once the first response is submitted, editing is locked. --- ## Editing Restrictions **Important:** A survey can only be edited **before any user submits a response**. - If even one respondent has submitted the survey, the edit option is locked. - There is no way to unlock editing once submissions begin. - If changes are essential after submissions exist, archive the current survey (see [[Archiving a Survey]] and create a new one (see [[Creating a Survey]]). --- ## Steps to Edit a Survey 1. Navigate to the **Surveys** page. 2. Locate the survey you want to edit. 3. Click the **settings icon** next to the survey. 4. Select **Edit** from the menu. 5. Update any of the following fields as needed: - **Title** - **Due Date** - **Make Results Public** toggle - **Anonymous Results** toggle - **Receiving Buildings** - **Receiving Groups** - **Questions** (add, modify, or remove) - **Attached files** on any question 6. Click **Save** to apply your changes. --- ## Example: Adding a Supporting Document A common edit is attaching a reference document to a question so respondents can review it before voting. 1. Open the survey in edit mode. 2. Locate the question you want to enhance (e.g., a renovation cost vote). 3. Attach the relevant document (e.g., a budget PDF) to the question. 4. Click **Save**. After saving, respondents who open the survey will see the attached document and can review it before submitting their answer. --- ## Example: Making Results Public After Creation If you decide you want owners to see the survey results: 1. Open the survey in edit mode. 2. Toggle **Make Results Public** on. 3. Click **Save**. The next time owners visit the survey, if any responses have been submitted, they will be able to see the results. --- ## Important Notes - **Updating** and **editing** a survey are the same action — both are performed through the `Edit` option in the settings menu. - Editing does **not** notify previous recipients by default. If changes are significant, consider communicating them separately. - Surveys cannot be deleted. If you need to remove a survey, see [[Archiving a Survey]]. --- ## Related Guides - [[Creating a Survey]] - [[Editing a Survey]] - [[Archiving a Survey]] - [[Viewing Survey Results]] - [[Attaching Surveys to News and Tasks]] - [[Filtering Surveys]]
