This guide explains how to **remove a News Announcement**, either manually via the gear icon or automatically using an **auto-delete date**. For a feature overview, see [[News Announcements Overview]] --- ## Important Warning > **Deleting a News Announcement is permanent.** Once removed, the announcement is no longer visible on the News page or on the public website (if it was public). Attachments associated with the announcement are removed at the same time. --- ## Prerequisites - You must be part of a [[User Groups Overview|User Group]] that has access to manage news announcements. --- ## Method 1 — Delete an Announcement Manually 1. Open the **News** page. 2. Locate the announcement you want to remove. (Use the **search bar** if needed.) 3. Click the **gear icon** next to the announcement. 4. Click **Delete**. 5. Confirm the deletion if prompted. The announcement is removed from the News page immediately. --- ## Method 2 — Set an Auto-Delete Date You can have the system remove an announcement automatically on a specific date. This is useful for time-sensitive notices like event reminders or temporary closures. 1. Open the **News** page. 2. Either: - **Create** a new announcement (see [Create a News Announcement](Create%20a%20News%20Announcement.md)), **or** - **Edit** an existing announcement (see [Edit a News Announcement](Edit%20a%20News%20Announcement.md)). 3. Set the **auto-delete date** to the day you want the announcement removed. 4. Click **Create Announcement** or **Save**.
